📍 Project Background
suncan crane delivered 8 underhung single girder cranes to an aluminium processing plant at Dublin Port, Ireland, covering the cold rolling mill, hot rolling mill, and ingot casting bay. The equipment is mainly used for lifting and transporting aluminium coils and ingots, as well as for maintenance operations.
🎯 Core Client Requirements
- Some cranes must operate in 400°C high-temperature environments for slab reheating furnace feeding, requiring semi-automated control and heat-resistant measures
- High hoisting stability – all cranes must be equipped with anti-sway systems to keep the hook vertical without deviation during movement
- Multiple safety protection devices to ensure safe operation
- Main girders must be transported as whole pieces, no cutting or segmentation allowed

① Heat-resistant & Semi-automated Design
- High-temperature cables: Special cables rated for continuous 400°C and intense thermal radiation to prevent insulation degradation and short circuits
- Insulated cabin: Rock-wool insulation layer effectively blocks external heat, improving operator working conditions
- Semi-automatic control system: 37 preset positioning points for accurate material feeding, while still allowing manual control
② Stable Lifting Solution
- European design + variable frequency drive: Smooth start/stop without mechanical shock, meeting high-precision lifting requirements
- Anti-sway system: PLC + inverter + encoder协同 control, reducing swing amplitude by more than 95%
③ Multi-layer Safety Protection
- Infrared anti-collision system: Automatic alarm, deceleration or stop when multiple cranes operate on the same track
- Overload limiter: Real-time load monitoring, automatic alarm and lockout upon overload
- Hoist height limiter + travel limit switches + hook safety latch
④ Integrated Main Girder Transport
- Main girder length 29 m, shipped as a whole via bulk carrier – no cutting
- Waterproof tarpaulin wrapped around the girder; electric hoist and electrical components packed in wooden cases
